La Palma Cruise Port Guide Info

La Palma is the fifth-largest of the eight islands of the Canary Islands archipelago, boasting spectacular natural attractions and famous for its breathtaking sceneries. The cruise terminal is located just a 10-15 minute walking distance from the city center of a picturesque capital of the island, Santa Cruz de La Palma. The city has preserved its centuries-old architecture and is famous for postcard-perfect, colorful buildings very attractive to the visitors.

The city center has many historic landmarks such as the magnificent Church of Santo Domingo or Church of El Salvador, well worth visiting, as well as many museums, markets, parks, and squares filled with restaurants, cafes, and shops. The city beach is located in the heart of Santa Cruz, so you can refresh yourself in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean or enjoy the view in one of the nearby cafes and restaurants.

La Palma is the greenest of all Canary Islands, and its main attraction is Caldera Taburiente National Park, a World Biosphere Reserve where fascinating volcanic landscapes meet the island’s dense forests. The national park is located a 30-minute drive from your cruise port terminal, and the best way to visit it is with your cruise ship shore excursion.

A bit further away, in the region of Fuencaliente, in the southern part of the island, you can admire the volcanoes of Teneguia and San Antonio from several different viewpoints. Both volcanoes are still considered active and have visitor centers where you can stop by and learn about the history of La Palma’s volcanoes. The island is truly stunning and has so much to offer, but the natural beauties of La Palma are not to be missed.
