Things to Do in Valparaiso-Santiago

Historic Quarter of Valparaiso

A UNESCO World Heritage site: a late 19th-century port city whose streets and houses climb the hillsides around the bay like an amphitheatre, best explored on Cerro Alegre and Cerro Concepcion.

Funiculars (ascensores)

More than a century old and part of the World Heritage site, the city elevators such as Concepcion, Artilleria and El Peral lift passengers from the port to the Alegre and Concepcion hills, with murals and galleries at the top.

La Sebastiana

One of the three house museums of the poet Pablo Neruda, run by the Fundacion Pablo Neruda.

Plaza Sotomayor

The civic square of the old port, facing Prat Pier, dominated by the Monument to the Heroes of Iquique and the Chilean Navy headquarters; boat trips around the bay leave from the pier.
