How to read a crowd calendar

People in port

Every ship’s guests at standard occupancy plus its crew, added up for the day. Ships without a published capacity are listed but not counted.

Crowd level

Each port is compared with its own typical day, so a busy day in Key West and a busy day in Miami both read as Busy, at very different numbers.

Turnaround days

When a cruise ends and the next one boards, the terminal handles both groups. Expect queues, full garages and busy roads on those days.

Crowd calendar questions

A ship counts for a day when it is alongside or at anchor at any time between 00:00 and 23:59 local time. Overnight stays count on both days.

Guests at standard occupancy (two per cabin) plus crew, from each ship’s published figures. Ships without a published capacity are listed but not counted.

Homeports such as Miami and Galveston are busy on turnaround days, mostly weekends, and can be almost empty midweek.

Each port’s crowd calendar covers this month and the next 11 months of published itineraries. Dates further out can still change.

Yes. Times move with weather and port operations, and lines add or drop calls. Always confirm with your cruise line and the port.
