Where is the Brest cruise port?

Cruise ships berth at the QR4, container or EMR quays in the eastern part of the port de commerce, between the Chateau and Moulin Blanc. On call days a shuttle runs to a single stop in the city centre; the quays are inside a working cargo port, so check with your ship before planning to walk.

By road the quays are about 4.3 km, typically 12 minutes, from Place de la Liberte, 3.8 km from the Chateau and 3.3 km from Oceanopolis. Pointe Saint-Mathieu is about 28 km away, typically 40 to 50 minutes.

Destination

About Brest

Brest is a major naval and commercial port at the western tip of Brittany, on the sheltered Rade de Brest. The port receives around 20 to 25 cruise calls a year at three quays of the port de commerce, and cruising makes up only a small share of its cargo business.

Largely rebuilt after the Second World War, the city centres on Rue de Siam and Place de la Liberte. The medieval Chateau de Brest houses the Musee National de la Marine, Oceanopolis showcases the oceans at Moulin Blanc, and the wild headland of Pointe Saint-Mathieu lies west along the coast.

Climate
Mild, windy and wet oceanic climate. Based on long-term averages, daytime highs are about 10 C in January and 21 C in July and August, with lows of about 4 to 5 C in winter and 13 C in summer. Rain falls on roughly 160 days a year; early summer is the driest time and late autumn and winter the wettest. Bring a waterproof layer in any season. All figures are approximate.
