Where is the Buzios cruise port?

Ships anchor offshore and tender passengers to Porto Veleiro on Travessa Santana at Praia da Armacao, a short walk from Rua das Pedras and the Orla Bardot promenade. Porto Veleiro is the authorised cruise reception facility in the town and has a covered pier for tender landings. There is no berth for ships alongside.

From the pier, Praia dos Ossos and the Sant'Anna church hillside are about 1.3 km along the bay, while Geriba and Ferradura need a short drive or taxi. Allow extra time for tender queues before all-aboard.

About Buzios

Buzios, officially Armacao dos Buzios, is a peninsula resort town on the Costa do Sol in Rio de Janeiro state. It sits on a compact headland of coves and more than twenty beaches, from the calm waters of Ferradura and Joao Fernandes to the surf at Geriba.

The town centre clusters around Rua das Pedras and the Orla Bardot waterfront promenade, with low-rise inns, boutiques and beach restaurants rather than high-rise hotels. Cruise passengers tender into the sheltered Armacao waterfront and can walk to the main shopping street and several town beaches within minutes. Check the ship schedule for upcoming calls.

Climate

Based on long-term averages at nearby Cabo Frio on the same coast, not measurements in Buzios itself, monthly mean temperatures are about 21 to 25 C, with daytime highs of about 24 to 29 C; February and March are warmest and August coolest. Rainfall is about 785 mm a year, with wetter months around October to December. Coastal waters can be cooler in spring and summer when upwelling occurs. All figures are approximate.
