About Antibes

Antibes is an old walled town on the French Riviera, about 20 km west of Nice, with the Alps rising behind the bay on clear days. Its old town, Vieil Antibes, sits behind sea ramparts and is a maze of narrow streets leading to the cathedral and the Chateau Grimaldi, which houses the Picasso Museum.

Nearby are the covered Marche Provencal, the artists' quarter of the Safranier and shopping streets such as Rue Sade and Rue Thuret, with many restaurants on terraces and in hidden gardens. A walk along the ramparts leads to Nomade, a large sculpture of letters by Jaume Plensa, with views across Port Vauban, a large yacht harbour, to the star-shaped Fort Carre.

Beyond the town, the Cap d'Antibes has a coastal path along rocky shores, and the resort of Juan-les-Pins has sandy beaches on the other side of the cape.
