Destination

About Bristol

Bristol is a historic port city on the River Avon in south-west England, where the old docks of the Floating Harbour are now lined with museums, cafes and restaurants. Highlights include Brunel's SS Great Britain and the Clifton Suspension Bridge over the Avon Gorge, and the Roman Baths of Bath are about an hour away.

Ships no longer sail up to the city: cruises use the enclosed cargo docks at the mouth of the Avon, inside locks. Embarkation takes place at the Bristol Cruise Terminal in Royal Portbury Dock, and transit calls can use Royal Portbury or Avonmouth. Pre-booked parking is available at the terminal.

Climate
Mild and changeable maritime climate. Based on long-term averages, highs are about 8 C in January and 22 C in July, with lows of about 2 to 3 C in winter and 13 C in summer. About 820 mm of rain falls a year, on roughly 136 days; spring is the driest season and late autumn and early winter the wettest. Pack a waterproof layer in any season. All figures are approximate.
