About Binz
Binz is a seaside resort on the island of Rügen, set on a long sweep of fine sandy beach on Germany's Baltic coast. It is known for its white villas with carved wooden balconies, built in the resort architecture style that has shaped the town for more than a century.
A beach promenade runs past hotels, cafes and the Kurhaus, and the 370 m pier reaches out into the bay. Excursion boats leave from the pier for trips along the coast.
Behind the town rises the beech forest of the Granitz, crowned by a hilltop hunting lodge that visitors reach on foot or by the Rasender Roland steam train. Along the bay stands the large former holiday complex at Prora, now home to a documentation centre.
